As the sun  has been shining non stop this last week and we have had a friend staying with us – we have visited a few more wonderful places not too far away from Lletty Cottage.  One of the brilliant things living here is that we are perfectly based for exploring the whole area. We are within easy reach of the A40 main road between Llandovery and Llandeilo which gives access to all the local amenities and attractions in the area.

This week we have visited the coast- Aberaeron 50 minutes away. We passed the Urdd Eisteddfod site which is being held at Llanerchaeron. Aberaeron was beautiful so we had a paddle – the water was freezing.

I'm holding the seaweed!

Later after honey icecreams and a stroll around the shops we went onto the Internal Fire Museum of Power -Castell Pridd Farm Tanygroes Dyfed SA 43 2JS  www.internalfire.com

It was fascinating to see all the engines and all so beautifully displayed. Jim had a  long chat with the owner of the museum Paul, who had raced in the TT races on his bike and had started his wonderful collection of engines and needed  somewhere to repair and display them – so of course moved to Wales- where everyone  now has the chance to visit the Museum  and learn all about the engines that powered up Britain long ago.

In the museum

This was Jim's favourite engine

I loved all the details around the engines- great collection of blow lamps

Great range of spanners!

Later in the week we visited the Botanic Gardens- always a treat with so many interesting plants to see and buy!

Jim admiring the bulls until someone waved a red coat then he moved away quickly!!

Bottle brush plants in the Great Glasshouse

The borders were filled with spring plants

We also went for lots of walks  from our front door. We are very lucky that  just a short walk away we have the Millennium Wood  to enjoy and this week they were filled with bluebells- it was so special.  After passing through the woods the walk goes over hills and fields and up to the top of the hill – there one has magnificent views of the Towy valley with Pen Y Fan in the far distance- all this near Lletty Cottage.  Come and share it with us!
