We had a super autumn day here yesterday- brilliant blue skies, bit chilly but decidedly beautiful colours everywhere. It was a great day to start putting the garden to bed for the winter and to do lots of moving of logs and cutting of hedges to keep warm and toasty.
The farmer has been round with his hedge cutters and cut all the field hedges so they look really smart now but the smaller hedges in the garden needed a trim so out came the clippers. Jim prepared his power saw to begin cutting down an ash tree- that unfortunately has grown in the wrong place and now its roots are huge and filling borders and lawn so it had to come down. We were particularly careful with gardening this week as nearby friends have suffered serious accidents in their gardens in the last week.
Last Saturday in Ammanford I enjoyed a talk and demonstration given by David Bellamy, the artist. It was very interesting and hopefully my paintings will benefit from seeing a real artist at work.

The talk was organised by Wendy Powell Jones , who with Anthony Richards run a fine art gallery in Ammanford:-
Every week I attend an art course run by Wendy and she has a great blog with lots of teaching hints and ideas:
