November 17 Cold Weather and Building work November 17, 2010

The weather has really changed this last few weeks and we have had some really cold, icy, foggy and wet days!  The countryside has looked beautiful with all the autumn colours – some mornings the fields and mountains  covered with  icy patches glistened just like jewels.

Pleased  to say that our two little moorhens are still doing fine on the pond. I tried to take a photo of them but they run for cover as soon as I approach even though I creep up really quietly!
At the present  there aren’t any visitors in the cottage and we have closed the door until  the end of February/March. This is due to renovation and building work being completed on the roof of Lletty Cottage and the house and decorating taking place inside. The builders are being great and they have worked really hard all the way through the poor weather. Trouble is things take longer to complete and dry out in the wet and cold  so we think it is wise to wait until the warmer days of Spring 2011 to open again. Hope all your Christmas preparations are going well. We’ve received our first Christmas card this week.  Really looking forward to first weekend in December when Aberglasney Gardens hold their Winter Fair- it’s a fantastic  start to the Christmas celebrations….can’t wait!

  1. The lime tree by the pond might make a good painting!

Thanks for the comment Wendy…we’ll have to ask one of the visitors to the cottage to paint it…we have very talented guests…or I could ask a very well known local artist if she’d like to have a dabble at it!
