After our cottage visitors left this morning we decided to try to follow the wonderful example they set and go for a walk. They said they had enjoyed the visit to the area and had walked to the top of the Carmarthenshire Fans and beyond on one day, following this the next day by walking to the top of Pen Y Fan and ending their stay by walking the hills all around Carreg Cennen castle. …such energy!
We left the car at Llanerchaeron and set off down the Aberaeron / Lampeter footpath. This was rather muddy and difficult underfoot but soon we met up with the footpath/cycle track that we meant to go on and that was the disused railway line path…much easier and straighter!
We followed the river path until we came to the town then we had fish and chips in a cafe! We were so full we had to keep walking to get rid of all the calories we had eaten!
We crossed over the pedestrian bridge and walked to the other side of the harbour which we hadn’t been to before.
Although the wind was blowing and it was freezing cold the walk along the harbour wall and seafront was exhilarating and doing great things for burning off those chip calories!
More calories were used up on our walk back along the railway line to Llanerchaeron where we found a notice on the car windscreen informing us that the carpark closes at 5pm. It was now 6pm so luckily the gates were still open but they were getting locked very soon! We must remember to take a phone with us next time in case we get locked in somewhere so we can phone a friend for help!!
