The Gelli Aur Painters Group welcomed David to their session today where he demonstrated some of his oil painting on canvas techniques. He painted a wonderful bluebell woodland scene. He began by lightly blending a number of different greens onto the canvas with twirling motions of his paintbrush . It was quite magical how he transformed the flat canvas into a painting with depth. He used subtle light and dark shades of greens and blues which seemed to bounce light off the trunks of trees onto the bluebells below. After four hours work David rested as the oil paint needed to dry. He will complete the painting back at his studio.
When completed this painting together with many others will be on view and for sale at his next exhibition to be held at Newton House, Dinefwr starting on July 5th. This exhibition must not be missed – especially as this fantastic bluebell wood painting will be there.
Truly amazing experience and privilege to watch such a talented artist paint such a delightful and brilliant painting. Many thanks indeed for coming to the session David. We’ll all be there at your exhibition!
