For the first time in our married life…which now spans decades…we have had professional decorators in and boy hasn’t it been worth it! The cottage is now shiny bright and painted all over and looks amazing. Jim with one arm attached to his crutch and the other with a long handled roller has re varnished the floor.
Now all we need to do is get the furniture back in from the workshop in readiness for our first visitors of the season. The visitors coming to stay are from Ireland and this is their seventh year in succession …can’t wait to welcome them back.
After the dreadful weekend when everyone suffered from the effects of storm Imogen with more floods and for us rain blowing down the chimney in the house wetting everywhere- it was wonderful this morning to awake to a cold, frosty, dry and SUNNY morning!
This was the day to try out Jim’s new knee with a ‘proper’ walk! Ten minutes walk away from Lletty Cottage is the Aber Marlais Caravan Park with public footpaths leading through the grounds. Snowdrop time is one of the best times to visit for a walk to see the banks of snowdrops alongside the river.
The storm damage can easily be seen in the river Marlais. I didn’t fancy crossing the bridge!
The first photo this year showing sunlight shining on the water…sunlight!!
Snowdrops in huge drifts alongside the river where only a week ago it was all flooded over!
Lichen seen on the walk.
I love these little lookalike ‘Christmas trees’ of moss growing up sticks.
Back home the sun was still shining and just as we decided to sit and have a coffee in the garden it began to ……SNOW!!
At least the crocus don’t look to be too unhappy with the snow coming!
